Reviewing for the Licensure Exam for Teachers can be difficult if you have a limited number of review materials. You better gather as many as you can to increase your chances of passing.
The best source of review materials is your school. Most schools that offer education courses also have multiple reviewers in the library.
You could also borrow the review materials of your schoolmates who took the LET in the past. Just contact them through Facebook to ask if they still have their past review materials. If you do get some free LET reviewers from your school friends, you will save as few hundreds to thousands of pesos.
Your second option is to buy the reviewers from a bookstore near you. LET reviewers cost an average of P300. These books only include sample questions with the answer keys.
If you have a Google Play Account, you could also get LETPasser.com’s Professional Education Reviewer through Google Play Books. This eBook contains Professional Education review notes, 50 sample questions with an answer key and tips on how to pass the LET.
If you have constant access to the internet, I would suggest using practice test tools online like the LETPasser.com practice test. This is a free tool that will allow you to practice taking the test.
To cover the wide range of topics when reviewing for the LET, you will need to spend your review time wisely. You need to have a plan on how you will spend your free time for studying. The optimal time to study is just before you sleep at night. Studies suggest that our long-term memory develops when we sleep. The things you learn before you sleep are more likely to be included if your long term memory.
Aside from this, you should should also break down your study hours into 3-4 hours chunks. As you spend more time studying, your ability to focus diminishes. You will be able to retain more of the information in the material if you have two 3-4 hours session per day as compared to doing a 6-8 hours of studying.
Prepare as early as possible
Do not wait for the last few months to prepare for the exam. You should already start studying the moment you have decided to take it. Find a review group that will fit your budget. If you think that you need to go to a review center, save up the money for it. Do anything that will increase your preparedness and your confidence of the day of the exam.
Find guidance from people who took the test recently
If you still have time, ask about the experience of taking the exam from people who just took it. Contact the people you know who recently took the exam and ask for tips. You will find some of the tips they have useful because they just experienced what it is like to take the Board Exam.
Set a study timeline with corresponding study goals
When planning your study session, you should know how many days you still have before the exam. You should have a study schedule on how you will spend the time you have left. It is important that you start studying the basics first, because these topics often come out of the LET.
When you have covered all the basic topics, give yourself enough time to take practice tests. These tests will help your mind prepare for the actual experience. They will train your mind to read questions effectively and efficiently. They will also train your mind on how you can arrive at an answer fast.

When studying for a long exam like the Licensure Exam for Teachers, most of us procrastinate and only cram the study sessions in the last few months before the exam. While some do survive with this method, the majority of crammers fail. The best way to avoid procrastinating on your preparations for the LET is by creating a study routine. A study routine is ritualistic list of tasks that you can do before each study session.
Ideally, you should schedule your study sessions at the same time each day. Ideally, you should schedule it right after you wake up when your mind is fresh. For most people however, waking up three hours early is a challenge. To be successful, you need to create a routine or a set of tasks that you will do immediately after you wake up.
Here is an example of a morning study routine that will help you succeed in the LET:
The idea is to make the actions in the list automatic. If you do these tasks repeatedly for a month, the habit will develop and you will no longer find it difficult to wake up in the morning to study.
In the first few days, it may become difficult since you are just starting out. To make it easier, try to do all the difficult preparations the night before.
For instance, you may heat the water for the coffee (and put it in a thermos) and cook your breakfast the night before. This way, you only need to heat the food in the morning and you will have your coffee ready faster.
It is also a common mistake to dwell too long on just one topic. If this happens to you, you may end up neglecting some of the topics covered by the LET. To avoid this, you will need to set a time to study each topic.
When creating a study timeline, you should give equal attention to the Professional Education subjects and your Area of Specialization. These two subjects are weighted 40% each in the scoring system. I would suggest giving one hour per day reviewing General Education questions. Review a different subject under the General Education Exam per day.
This way, you will have something fresh to study every day. This will also prevent you from dwelling on only one subject.
A reviewer notebook is a tool that you can bring around with you so that you can study during your unexpected free time. You should put information into it that you want to retain. If you are having trouble remembering Piaget’s Stages of Cognitive development for example, you can add it in your reviewer notebook.
While lining up in the PRC to register for the LET, you can spend the time by memorizing these steps. The idea is to place concise notes of the information that you want to remember in the notebook. The process of writing something down will also help you retain the information.
Aside from gathering knowledge, you should practice your test-taking skills. In particular, you need to train your mind to react properly for the different types of questions that you will encounter on the day of the exam.
Most of the exam questions that you will encounter fall into one of many question categories. You will be faster in answering if you can develop a strategy for each category.
In the Professional Education exam for instance, you should expect situational type of questions about the philosophical foundations of education. To develop a strategy for answering this type of question, try to associate keywords to the different foundation philosophies.
Essentialism for example, focuses on the essential topics in education. The keywords that may be used for this philosophical foundation may be “basic” or “important”. If you see these types of keywords for this type of question, you will be able to answer the questions faster.
